Provides vulnerable children & families with quality care and supports that help strengthen their families and promote their children's development. 

About Specialized Child Care

It serves three distinct populations:

  1. Families with open cases with DCF's Family Services — Protective Services Child Care.
  2. Families experiencing significant stress — Family Support Child Care.
  3. Children with special needs — Child with Special Heath Needs Child Care.

It is part of the continuum of services offered through Children’s Integrated Services in Vermont.


Specialized Child Care Providers

Specialized child care providers are required to:

  • Have 3 or more STARS.
  • Be licensed/registered and in good standing with the Child Development Division.
  • Complete the basic specialized child care training within the last five years.
  • Ensure all staff have completed online mandated reporters training.
  • Commit to attending 6 hours of advanced specialized care training each year.
