A federally-required council that brings parents and professionals together.
Council Purpose
The council advises and helps the State of Vermont around:
- Programs for children with disabilities
- Children's Integrated Services (CIS)
- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C
Council Makeup
The council is made up of:
- Parents and caregivers of children who receive Children's Integrated Services (CIS), and
- Professionals who want to improve services for Vermont families, including representatives from the legislature, Medicaid, Head Start, and community organizations.
The council reviews its membership annually to make sure we are engaging with diverse stakeholders that represent the population and services of Vermont.

Members typically serve in one- or two-year terms. We provide support through the application, appointment, and renewal process.

Council Meetings
- The council generally meets monthly between September - June.
- Meetings are free, open to the public, and currently being held virtually.
- Parents and caregivers are compensated for time spent engaging in council activities.
