Who Is Eligible
Families during pregnancy as well as with young children from birth to age 6, who:
- Have questions or concerns about parenting, or
- Need short term support to address needs.
A Home Visitor Can:
- Meet at your home, a local park, or wherever feels right.
- Address questions and offer guidance.
- Share knowledge and resources.
Strong Families Vermont Nurse Home Visiting
A nurse home visitor can work with families on:
- Addressing needs related to pregnancy or soon after birth
- Supporting early learning for children
- Providing information related to self care
- Feeding your child
- Managing nutrition for the family
Vermont’s evidence-based nurse home visiting model is Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting (MECSH). Eligibility for MECSH is limited to prenatal to two years old.

A family support home visitor can work with families on:
- Developing parenting skills
- Building connections to local community supports
- Improving families’ well-being
- School readiness for young children
