A home visitor supports parenting, growth and development for the child, and meeting the needs of your family.


Who Is Eligible

Families during pregnancy as well as with young children from birth to age 6, who:

  • Have questions or concerns about parenting, or
  • Need short term support to address needs.

A Home Visitor Can:

  • Meet at your home, a local park, or wherever feels right.
  • Address questions and offer guidance.
  • Share knowledge and resources.

Strong Families Vermont Nurse Home Visiting

A nurse home visitor can work with families on:

  • Addressing needs related to pregnancy or soon after birth
  • Supporting early learning for children
  • Providing information related to self care
  • Feeding your child
  • Managing nutrition for the family 

Vermont’s evidence-based nurse home visiting model is Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting (MECSH). Eligibility for MECSH is limited to prenatal to two years old.

A family support home visitor can work with families on:

  • Building connections to local community supports
  • Improving families’ well-being
  • School readiness for young children
