The Interstate Compact for Juveniles facilitates the movement, across state lines, of youth who have been adjudicated delinquent or run away from their home states.
As a member of the compact, Vermont follows ICJ rules and procedures.
When The Compact Applies
- Youth with delinquency adjudications cross our borders for vacation, visits, or to live.
- Youth who are residents of Vermont run away to other states.
- Youth from other states run to Vermont, regardless of court involvement or custody status of the child.
