Updates & Reminders: Child Care Financial Assistance Program

Category
February 22, 2023

With the upcoming school vacations, we wanted to share a few updates and reminders with child care, preschool, and afterschool programs serving families receiving child care financial assistance.

Please visit our CCFAP Information for Providers page, which contains trainings, tools, resources, and a list of who to contact for support.

Attendance Codes

We updated the Attendance Codes Fact Sheet to include additional guidance/reminders, such as the ā€˜Vā€™ code can only be used for a child when the family requests it, and the ā€˜Pā€™ code must be used for any closure reason.

We are currently in the process of adding functionality into the Child Development Division Information System (CDDIS) that tracks the number of coded days. In the meantime, please keep track of your Provider closed and Vacation days for children in your care. If you have additional questions about code usage, please contact the CDDIS Help Desk.

Submitting Attendance Reports

Guidance for when to check the FT/PT (Full Time/Part Time) box on your attendance report is on page 16 of the CDDIS Attendance Report training.

  • Only check the box when a child with a FT/PT certificate is present or registered for full-time hours (over 26 hours) during a week, and attendance codes are used.
  • DO NOT check the FT/PT box if the child is in attendance for full-time hours in the week.

Certificates

If you have questions about certificates for children in your care, including school-aged children during vacation weeks, please contact the Eligibility Specialist BEFORE submitting your attendance for the child(ren). We are unable to make changes to certificates once attendance is submitted, which may impact the amount you are paid through CCFAP. Reaching out to the Eligibility Specialist before submitting attendance allows us to better help ensure you are paid the correct amount.

Tax Credits for Families

The Vermont Department of Taxes published a flyer about three generous new and expanded Vermont tax credits to support families (including private pay families). We encourage you to share the flyer with the families you serve and/or direct them to the following website for more information: Tax Credits and Adjustments for Individuals | Department of Taxes (vermont.gov).
