New Director of Child Care Licensing

Category
August 31, 2022

The Child Development Division is pleased to announce that Beth Maurer has started as the new Director of Child Care Licensing. Beth was the district director of the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) Burlington Family Services district office and has years of experience working with children, families, and the community. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Vermont and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Psychology from Trinity College.

While Beth has held many positions within the Family Services Division (FSD), her work as the director of the largest FSD office is what has positioned her well to fill our role. She has a wonderful ability to look at the big picture from a strategic planning and policy lens and to develop practice initiatives to address the ever-changing needs of children, families, and the community. She does this through communication and collaboration with her staff, so they are supportive and engaged. She takes initiative and is always very open to feedback. Throughout her career, both in the fields of mental health and child welfare, she has demonstrated the ability to bring cross-disciplinary teams together to work collaboratively on a shared vision and practice implementation. Her organizational skills and attention to detail are balanced with her ability to take a holistic view of the work and then translate that into strategic planning with others for positive and measurable outcomes that support the division’s goals.

Beth phased in her time with the CDD during the summer to help assist in the recruitment and onboarding of a new FSD director. She started full-time on August 28th.
