We are hiring for our Child Care Business Technician position. The position works in the Child Care Licensing Unit of the Department for Children and Families, Child Development Division at the Waterbury State Office Complex. Our unit is responsible for regulating center-based child care, afterschool care, family child care, and prekindergarten programs in Vermont. A Child Care Business Technician is responsible for:
- Processing background clearances for all individuals affiliated with a child care or prekindergarten program,
- Case managing child care licensing applications which includes providing technical assistance, and
- Generating compliance reports used by Licensing Field Specialists during licensing compliance visits.

In addition to being able to read and apply regulations, we need someone who can think critically and make decisions. While the work can be concrete at times, there are other times in which discretion is required to be used.
