Two Job Opportunities at the Child Development Division

The Child Development Division is has openings for two different positions. One is a child care licensing field specialist position in the Washington/Orange County area. The other position is the Child Care Quality Program Administrator Position. Please see below the description for each position.

Child Care Licensing Field Specialist

DCF's Child Development Division is hiring for 1 limited service Licensing Field Specialist position with a three year term with the desire to transition to permanent status.  This field based position requires independent work with child care programs.  This position is also part of a larger team that works intimately with one another to provide regulatory oversight and education to child care providers.  An ideal candidate would have strong written and interpersonal communication, organizational and problem solving skills.  Candidates will need to be able to use sound judgment to make decisions based on pertinent facts gathered and analyzed.  Key characteristics of an ideal candidate include reliability, initiative, stress tolerance, adaptability, and self-motivation.  It is required that you live within a 1 1/2 hour drive to any point in the designated territory.  The territory under recruitment begins in Waterbury and follows Interstate 89 down to Windsor.  If you live within this area, have the child development knowledge and expertise as well as skills involved in providing regulatory oversight, and are able to have a confidential space in your home to conduct state business; we invite you to apply for this Licensing Field Specialist position.

Child Care Quality Program Administrator Position

The Vermont Child Development Division is looking for a leader to join our team. We have a Child Care Quality Program Administrator position opening. This position will lead and support the work of the Statewide Systems & Community Collaborations Unit. The unit oversees and/or supports the STep Ahead Recognition System (STARS); Vermont’s Early Childhood Professional Development System housed at Northern Lights @ CCV; Head Start Collaboration Office, prevention program and initiatives including Parent Child Centers; the Strengthening Families grant program; Universal Prekindergarten and other prevention and systems building related activities.

The ideal candidate would have leadership abilities, including strategic thinking and relationship building skills; strength based supervisory skills; and grant management experience or aptitude. Knowledge of the Early Childhood and Afterschool systems is desired but not required.
 
Responsibilities will include:
 

  • Leading and supervising a diverse team;
  • Leading efforts to develop implement and improve statewide quality systems in early childhood development and afterschool programs;
  • Management and monitoring of grants and contracts
  • Collaboration and relationship building with internal and external stakeholders and community partners, including change management processes; and

  
 Minimum requirements include: A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood development, early education or in a related human service field and two years at a professional level in public administration, human services administration, or early childhood administration. Experience and knowledge working at the systems level including continuous quality improvement practices for systems and change management practices.
 
This position's primary office will be in Waterbury.
