Housing Assistance

OEO oversees several programs that help individuals and families who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. These programs are administered by partner organizations throughout the state.

CARES Housing Voucher

Provides medium-term rental assistance to Vermont households experiencing homelessness.

See page for CARES partners.

Family Supportive Housing (FSH)

Helps eligible families access stable housing and keep it. Priority is given to families with multiple episodes of homelessness, open cases with Family Services, and/or at least one child under 6.

See FSH annual reports.

Family Unification Program (FUP)

Provides housing vouchers that offer up to 18 months of rental subsidy and supportive services to eligible families involved with DCF and youth aged 18 to 24 who left foster care at age 16 or older and do not have adequate housing.

See page for referring agencies.

Housing Opportunity Grant Program (HOP)

Funds non-profit agencies across the state who provide emergency shelters (e.g., warming shelters, day shelters, domestic abuse shelters), transitional housing, and services to help families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

See HOP annual reports.
