Department for Children and Families

In compliance with the federal Child Care Development Block Grant, the Department for Children and Families (DCF), Child Development Division (CDD) has issued a administrative memo outlining required changes to its regulations related to pediatric first aid and infant and child CPR. To summarize, the federal block grant requires:

• Child care program staff shall now obtain training to pediatric first aid and infant and child CPR within three months (instead of six months) of beginning work in the respective program (e.g. CBCCPP, FCCH, or ASP) and remain currently certified.
• For registered FCCHs, this requirement now applies to to all FCCH staff, including substitutes, assistants, aides, trainees (before only one adult present had to be trained and certified).

To support you and/or staff with complying, CDD has been and will continue working to increase the offerings of these trainings with Northern Lights at CCV to meet the demand.
