The Task Force oversees the allocation of CJA funds in Vermont for projects that improve the assessment, investigation, prosecution and judicial handling of child abuse and neglect cases.
This includes the handling of child fatality cases in which child abuse or neglect is suspected and some cases of children with disabilities and serious health problems who also are victims of abuse and neglect.
Task Force Membership
We look for members who have knowledge & experience with the criminal justice and child welfare systems and who can represent certain professions (e.g., law enforcement professionals, civil & criminal court judges, prosecution & defense attorneys, child advocates & attorneys, health & mental professionals, child protection workers and parent's groups) as well as parents, individuals with experience working with children with disabilities/homeless children and youth, and victims of child abuse/neglect who are now adults.
What We Do
The Task Force is responsible for making sure funds are not used for direct service or prevention. Members vote on applications for funding and help in the assessment of the overall system's response to child abuse and neglect cases.
State Coordinator
The coordinator is responsible for administering the Children's Justice Act Grant funds allocated to the Vermont and coordinating the work of the Task Force.
