Seeking Landlords to Help House Vermonters!
22 December 2020
Funds from the federal CARES Act are being used to help provide housing for families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness in Vermont.
There are currently over 300 families in Vermont who:
- Don’t have homes,
- Have rental vouchers to help pay for housing, and
- Need homes to call their own.
WHAT WE NEED:
We are looking for landlords interested in partnering with agencies to house Vermonters.
WHAT THE FAMILIES GET:
- A rental voucher that guarantees a portion of monthly rent.
- Funds to cover the security deposit (up to the value of 3 months rent in some cases).
- Classes and workshops on topics like tenant skills and financial education.
- Support from a local community agency.
WHAT THE PROCESS REQUIRES:
- A housing inspection of the available unit(s).
- Rent that is reasonable compared to the local market, based on unit size and amenities.
- A written lease agreement.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE INTERESTED:
Contact the agency nearest you. Ask about becoming a landlord for the CARES Voucher Program.
