The Vermont Department for Children and Families, Child Development Division, is happy to be partnering with the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, and the Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) to provide Vermont State Park passes to Vermont's early childhood educators and afterschool professionals.

A Vermont Registered or Licensed Family Child Care Home, licensed Center Based Child Care and Preschool Program, or licensed Afterschool Child Care Program owner or director must apply for Vermont State Park passes on behalf of their eligible staff members.


The application deadline is June 1, 2022, at 4:30pm

Pass Pickup Information

The program owner/director or designee is responsible for picking up the passes at one of the nine AOT Maintenance District offices they identify (within the application) between June 20, 2022, and June 24, 2022, between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm. The program owner/director will distribute passes to their staff members.

Staff Eligibility

To be eligible to receive a pass:

  • The staff member must hold one of the following positions within a Vermont Registered or Licensed Family Child Care Home, a licensed Center Based Child Care and Preschool Program, or a licensed Afterschool Child Care Program.

    • Assistant
    • Business Manager
    • Director
    • Family Child Care Provider
    • Init Applicant
    • Licensee
    • Program Administrator
    • Program Staff
    • Substitute
    • Teacher
    • Teacher Associate
    • Trainee
    • Afterschool Activities Specialist
    • Auxiliary Staff
  • The staff member did not receive a pass through the Vermont Agency of Educations Summer Recess Park Passes for Educators Program.

VT State Park Pass Information

The Vermont State Park Passes issued through this application process are vehicle passes, which means the following:

  • The annual vehicle pass provides unlimited day use entry to any park open for day use, all season (mid-May to mid-October), for up to 8 people in one vehicle.
  • Each pass is assigned to one vehicle. At your first park visit you will be asked to write the license plate number of the vehicle you want assigned to the pass.
  • You will need to present your pass each time you visit a park.
  • Pass is non-transferable and cannot be used by other vehicles.
  • Pass should be displayed on dashboard of vehicle while in the park.
  • Pass does not include camping.
