Vermont's advisory board for youth justice, delinquency and primary prevention — established by the Vermont legislature (33 V.S.A. § 3302) in 1986.
Oversees the allocation of CJA funds for projects that improve and strengthen the identification, investigation and prosecution of child abuse and neglect cases.
Advises DCF on policies, practices and procedures related to child protection in Vermont. When appropriate, the board reviews specific cases, including child fatalities that involve child maltreatment.
Vermont's advisory council related to Children's Integrated Services (CIS) / Early Intervention Program (known as Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The goal is to continuously improve services for children, ages birth to five, with developmental delays or at risk for delays, and their families.
Required by federal statute (10 CFR §440.17), the council advises DCF’s Weatherization Program on their draft state plan and annual weatherization budget.
The Youth Advisory Board gives youth in foster care and alumni the opportunity to have a voice and make meaningful, positive changes in relevant statewide policies and practices.
