An abuser needs two things to sexually abuse a child:

1. Access to a child; and
2. Time alone with the child.

Although they use a variety of techniques to sexually abuse children, abusers most often use a process known as grooming to gain control of, and access to, children. It is therefore important to understand the grooming process.
