Prevention Tips

  • Never leave your child with someone who may be stressed. Make sure your child’s caregiver knows it's never okay to shake a baby.

  • Don't take it personally. All babies cry. Some cry inconsolably for hours. It's not your fault.

  • Have a plan. Learn how to safely quiet a crying child before you can no longer tolerate your child’s crying.

  • Know your own limitations. Ask for help if you need it.
