Nancy

Nancy is 8-years-old.  Here’s what we would like you to know about her.

Her favorite activities:

Nancy enjoys making concoctions, cleaning, doing arts and crafts, playing learning games on the computer, playing pretend games, being read to, riding her bike, swimming, and playing in the bathtub.

What we want families to know about her:

Nancy is a delightful child with straight dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a great sense of humor.  She is affectionate and loving and enjoys interacting with adults. She always has something to say!

During her early years Nancy experienced significant neglect and abuse and this has influenced her understanding of the world. However, when she is provided consistency, predictability, and appropriate boundaries, she thrives.

Nancy is challenged behaviorally and academically at school and requires support to be successful. She has made enormous progress over the past 18 months and with the help of a nurturing, structured family, she will continue to blossom.

What we are seeking in a family for Nancy:

Nancy needs a family who can parent her with humor and not take things personally. Her new parents will need to work closely with Nancy’s team to successfully transition her into their home. They need to be skilled at redirection and non-confrontational intervention, while they provide her with structure and consistency and help her develop healthy relationships and boundaries.

Nancy needs parents who are familiar with the effects of neglect and abuse on a child; are willing to participate in any recommended trainings and therapy sessions; are patient and loving; are not afraid to seek outside help if and when they need it; can work cooperatively with her team; and can provide her with the patience and nurturing structure she needs.

Nancy is not yet legally freed for adoption; only Vermont homestudies or foster care licenses may be accepted. If you are interested in opening your home to Nancy, please send a copy of your homestudy or foster care license to:
