About UsThe mission of the Office of Child Support is to improve the economic well-being of children by establishing, collecting upon, enforcing, and modifying child support orders for children who do not live with both parents. We are proud of the work we do helping Vermont’s children. Each year the Office of Child Support collects many millions of dollars in child support for Vermont’s families. In Federal performance measures Vermont continues to be one of the top performers in the country, surpassing the national average in many key areas such as establishing child support orders, collecting on arrears and increasing distributed collections. Still there is much to be done to improve child support collection. At any given time, only around two-thirds of court ordered child support currently owed is actually being paid. We can and we must do better! We are committed to driving our program aggressively, continually bending the curve upward, improving our performance targets and ensuring that we do our best to efficiently and effectively serve the families of Vermont. To those parents who responsibly pay their child support, we applaud you. To those parents who have not paid their child support, we urge you to consider the young lives you can positively affect if you help to provide for their future. We hope all Vermonters will use this website to help us improve child support and to find out what’s new. Thank you for visiting our site. |
