Child Care Licensing Regulations

The goal of child care licensing is to ensure our children are safe while in regulated child care programs. This is done through establishing minimum guidelines (regulations) required to legally operate a child care program.

The regulations use the words child care. This includes family child care homes and center-based programs such as early child care, preschool, and before- and after-school programs.

Regulated child care means that a program has been authorized to operate by Vermont’s Child Development Division and meets the minimum health, safety, and program standards set by Vermont law and regulations.
