Community Child Care Support Agencies
Child care support agencies are agencies that provide three core services to families and providers in local areas in Vermont. Child Care Referral – The Child Care Referral Specialist provides information and education to parents and the community about child care options and about choosing quality child care. The Referral Specialist assists parents in clarifying their needs for child care, and addressing their questions associated with child care. All information shared with the referral specialist is kept confidential.Referrals are not recommendations. Child care referral does not license nor do we endorse child care providers. It is a family’s right and responsibility to choose the child care that meets their needs. Child Care Resource – The Resource Development Specialist provides assistance to registered home providers and licensed centers, and the community around child care related issues. Training opportunities and professional development are supported through this program. Technical assistance is also provided through newsletters, home visits, resource lending library, and on-site and phone consultation. Child Care Subsidy Eligibility Determination - The child care subsidy program assists families with their child care costs. To be eligible, a family must have a service need and meet income guidelines. A service need is defined as employment, work search, training or education, and incapacity. Family Support child care is also available for families who are experiencing significant stress. This service requires an additional application. A subsidy specialist is available to help families with their paperwork and answer any questions they may have.
