Divisions and Offices

The Department for Children and Families includes the Commissioner’s Office, supported by Fiscal Operations, Information Services, Human Resource Development, and Planning, Policy, and Regulation, as well as the following three divisions and three offices:

Child Development Division

Improves the well-being of Vermont children by ensuring access to high quality, economically viable child development services.

Economic Services Division

Administers programs such as assistance-to-work services, health care coverage, cash assistance, and food support, which help individuals and families meet their basic needs.

Family Services Division

Protects children and strengthens families--in partnership with families and communities.

Office of Disability Determination Services

Serves Vermonters who apply for disability benefits under three programs: Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Medicaid.

Office of Child Support

Improves the economic well-being of children by establishing, collecting, enforcing, and modifying child support orders for children living in divided homes.

Office of Economic Opportunity

Works to increase the self-sufficiency of Vermonters, strengthen Vermont communities, and eliminate the causes and symptoms of poverty--in partnership with the private sector, community-based organizations, and other groups.
